Electric in-floor heating shines in bathrooms, basements, and any tiled floor that's cold half the year. Baseboard heaters carry whole rooms: additions, bonus rooms and spaces where extending ductwork doesn't make sense.

Planning It Into a Renovation
Timing matters
Electric floor heat is a renovation decision: the cables go down before the tile, and the circuit and thermostat rough-in happen while the walls are open. Added at the right moment, it's a small line on the renovation budget. Added after, it means redoing the floor.
