What an EV Charger Install Involves
Level 2 charging
A Level 2 charger runs on a 240 volt circuit, like a dryer or range, and charges an EV several times faster than a wall plug. The install is straightforward when it's planned: confirm panel capacity, run a dedicated circuit, mount and wire the charger, and have it inspected.

Before you buy
The charger is the cheap part; the circuit behind it decides the cost. Amperage, distance from the panel, and whether your service has headroom matter more than the brand on the box.
Worth deciding before you buy:
Hardwired or plug-in: hardwired is tidier and often required at higher amperage
The charging speed you actually need for overnight charging, not the maximum on the spec sheet
Future-proofing: wiring for a second EV costs little while the wall is already open
