What We Do on BAS Projects

Building automation

A building automation system is only as reliable as the wiring behind it. Charged Electric handles the electrical scope of BAS projects, working alongside your controls vendor or integrator, or carrying the scope end to end.

On a typical BAS project we handle:

  • Control panel supply, wiring and installation for head-end and remote panels

  • Low-voltage network wiring between controllers, panels and field devices

  • Sensor and actuator installation: temperature, humidity, pressure, flow and door contacts

  • Integration wiring to existing equipment: refrigeration, HVAC, compressors and process lines

  • The power circuits that feed the panels and the equipment they control

In food processing plants, everything is built to survive the environment: sealed enclosures and fittings in washdown zones, and routing that keeps control wiring away from heat, moisture and wash-bay traffic.

Controls That Do What the Screen Says

Charged Electric wires and commissions building automation systems for food processing plants, commercial buildings and industrial facilities across Southwestern Ontario.

Why Charged Electric

Controls Experience In-House
PLC and automation work is a core service, not a sideline. The same electricians who wire your BAS panels troubleshoot controls for a living.
Labelled and Documented
Every conductor labelled, every panel documented. When a sensor drops offline two years from now, whoever services it can trace the circuit in minutes.
Licensed, Insured, ESA Inspected
ECRA/ESA licensed 7011473 and fully insured. Panel and power wiring done to code, with ESA notifications and inspections handled.
24/7 Support
If an automation fault stops production or puts refrigeration at risk, we answer around the clock.

Where BAS Pays for Itself

Use cases

Automation earns its keep when it watches the things that cost you money: product in cold storage, energy through peak hours, and equipment that fails quietly until it fails loudly.

Common projects:

  • Refrigeration and cold storage monitoring with alarms that call out before product is at risk

  • HVAC and make-up air control that holds temperature and pressure setpoints

  • Energy monitoring that shows exactly where the kilowatt-hours go

  • Compressor and utility equipment sequencing to trim peak demand

  • Temperature logging that backs up your food safety and audit records

You don't need a campus-scale system to benefit. A single panel watching refrigeration temperatures with dial-out alarms can pay for itself the first time it catches a failure overnight. Request a quote and we'll get back to you within one business day.

They installed a whole home generator for us. Top notch job! Everything went tickity boo. A lot of work involved but the trades were all very professional and explained the job to us as we went along. Other contractors wouldn’t even return our calls. Highly recommend! Local too!

I had them come help me with issues when I had my Lyric Thermostat. On time (early), pet friendly (did not mind my hyper chocolate lab) and price range very reasonable. I would highly recommend Charged Electric in the future.

Building Automation Questions

Both. Controls and PLC work is a core Charged Electric service, so we can wire, configure and commission smaller systems in-house, and on larger projects we work alongside your controls vendor or integrator and own the electrical scope: panels, network wiring, sensors and power.

Yes, if it's built for it from day one. That means sealed washdown-rated enclosures, gasketed fittings, stainless hardware where it matters, and sensors placed and rated for the zone they live in. Standard commercial BAS hardware installed in a washdown area fails early; specifying for the environment is most of the job.

Yes, and it's one of the most common reasons food processors call us. Temperature sensors in coolers, freezers and cold storage feed alarms that call or text before product is at risk, and the logged data backs up your food safety and audit records.

It depends on the point count: how many sensors, actuators and pieces of equipment the system watches and controls, plus panel locations and how much usable wiring already exists. We scope it on site and quote the project as one upfront number before any work starts.

Yes. Most of our BAS work is retrofit: adding monitoring and control to plants and buildings that were never wired for it. It phases well too, so many clients start with refrigeration monitoring and add HVAC control or energy monitoring later on the same backbone.

We handle BAS and automation projects across Southwestern Ontario, including Kitchener, Waterloo, Cambridge, Stratford, New Hamburg and Wilmot Township, with food processing plants a specialty. Call +1 (519) 469-9797 or request a quote and we'll respond within one business day.
