Electrical That Belongs on a Food Floor

Dairy & produce

Dairy and produce plants are hard on electrical: daily washdown, caustic cleaning chemicals, temperature swings from wash bay to freezer, and sanitation schedules that leave narrow windows for work. Gear that would last decades in a warehouse fails in months on a food floor unless it's specified for the environment.

What we handle in dairy and produce facilities:

  • Washdown-rated wiring, devices and sealed enclosures for wet processing areas

  • Stainless steel control panels and washdown motor connections

  • Cooler, freezer and refrigeration electrical, including temperature monitoring and alarms

  • Power and controls for conveyor, sorting, filling and packaging lines

  • Preventative maintenance scheduled around sanitation windows and production runs

Our electricians follow your GMPs and food safety procedures on the floor, and Charged Electric carries ISNetworld prequalification for plants that require it.

Common Projects in Dairy & Produce Plants

Project types

Most of our food processing work starts with one problem: a motor that keeps tripping, a cooler nobody is watching overnight, or a line expansion the existing service can't feed. Here's what that usually turns into.

Common projects:

  • Washdown motor replacements and VFD installations on process and conveyor lines

  • Cooler and freezer expansions with refrigeration monitoring and dial-out alarms

  • Stainless control panels for fillers, sorters, wash bays and CIP systems

  • Service upgrades and new feeders as lines and refrigeration loads grow

  • Lighting upgrades to sealed, food-safe fixtures rated for washdown areas

Whether it's a planned expansion or a motor that died mid-shift, request a quote and we'll respond within one business day, or call anytime for emergencies.

They installed a whole home generator for us. Top notch job! Everything went tickity boo. A lot of work involved but the trades were all very professional and explained the job to us as we went along. Other contractors wouldn’t even return our calls. Highly recommend! Local too!

I had them come help me with issues when I had my Lyric Thermostat. On time (early), pet friendly (did not mind my hyper chocolate lab) and price range very reasonable. I would highly recommend Charged Electric in the future.

Dairy & Produce Facility Questions

Yes, that's how most of our food processing work runs. We plan around sanitation windows, off-shifts, weekends and scheduled shutdowns, and coordinate with your QA and maintenance teams so work never puts product at risk.

It means the materials are specified to survive daily high-pressure washdown and cleaning chemicals: sealed stainless or non-metallic enclosures, gasketed fittings and devices, corrosion-resistant hardware, and routing that keeps connections out of direct spray. Standard commercial gear in a washdown zone corrodes and fails early.

Yes. Our electricians follow your plant's GMPs and food safety procedures on the floor, including sign-in, PPE and hygiene requirements, and Charged Electric carries ISNetworld prequalification for facilities that require contractor verification.

Yes. We install temperature monitoring with alarms that call or text before product is at risk, and the logged readings back up your food safety and audit records. It's one of the highest-payback projects in any dairy or produce plant.

Call our 24/7 line and we'll respond immediately. For planned work, motor and VFD replacements are scoped in advance so the changeover happens inside a sanitation window instead of costing you a production day.

We serve dairy plants, produce packers and food processors across Southwestern Ontario, including Kitchener, Waterloo, Cambridge, Stratford, New Hamburg and Wilmot Township. Call +1 (519) 469-9797 or request a quote and we'll respond within one business day.
