Plants come to a custom control panel builder for one of two reasons: a new machine or line needs control, or an old panel has become a liability. Either way the job is the same: a panel that's right on paper, right on the bench and right on your floor.

Every panel build includes:

  • Design and layout from your schematics, I/O list and enclosure spec, or drawn in-house from your process description

  • Motor control: starters, VFDs, soft starts and protection sized to the load

  • PLC and HMI integration, wired and programmed by the same crew

  • Every conductor labelled, every terminal numbered, as-built drawings included

  • Installation, field wiring and commissioning on site

Because we're electricians first, the panel doesn't get handed off at a shipping dock. The crew that built it installs it and proves it out.

Built Like We'll Be Back to Service It

Charged Electric builds custom control panels for industrial facilities across Ontario. Stainless washdown panels for food plants have their own dedicated page and spec.

Control panels

Designed for the Job
Layout, spacing and wire duct sized for real-world service access, not the smallest box the parts fit in.
Labelled and Numbered
Every wire labelled, every terminal numbered, every drawing matched to the panel. Troubleshooting takes minutes, not an afternoon.
Controls Integrated
PLCs, HMIs and drives wired and programmed in-house, so the panel arrives working, not waiting on an integrator.
Licensed, Insured, ESA Inspected
ECRA/ESA licensed 7011473 and fully insured. CSA-approved components, installation to code, ESA inspection handled.

Rebuilds and Retrofits, Not Just New

Panel retrofits

Half the panels we touch already exist: aging, obsolete inside, and often with no drawings that match reality. You don't always need a new panel; you need this one to stop being a risk.

Retrofit work we handle:

  • Obsolete relays and starters replaced with current, available components

  • Undocumented panels reverse-engineered, with as-built drawings created

  • PLC control retrofitted into old relay-logic panels

  • Extra I/O, drives or sections added to existing panels

  • Cutovers in shutdown windows, with the old panel kept until the new one proves out

They installed a whole home generator for us. Top notch job! Everything went tickity boo. A lot of work involved but the trades were all very professional and explained the job to us as we went along. Other contractors wouldn’t even return our calls. Highly recommend! Local too!

I had them come help me with issues when I had my Lyric Thermostat. On time (early), pet friendly (did not mind my hyper chocolate lab) and price range very reasonable. I would highly recommend Charged Electric in the future.

Control Panel Questions

Designs, assembles, wires and tests control panels: the enclosure, backplate, motor control, PLC and terminals that run a machine or line. Ours goes further than most, because the same licensed electricians who build the panel also install it, run the field wiring and commission it.

Cost is driven by I/O count, motor loads, enclosure size and rating, and the components specified. Send your schematics or I/O list and we'll return a firm number; if drawings don't exist yet, we can design from your process description and quote both stages.

Panels are built with CSA-approved components and installed to Ontario Electrical Safety Code requirements, with ESA inspection on the installation. If your project specifies a certified panel standard such as UL 508A, tell us at the quote stage and we'll confirm the right path for approval.

Schematics or an I/O list, the enclosure spec or the environment it lives in, motor loads and the controls platform you're standardized on. Missing pieces aren't a problem; we fill gaps during design and confirm before anything is ordered.

Often, yes. Obsolete components can be replaced, PLC control retrofitted into relay panels, and undocumented panels reverse-engineered with new as-builts. When a rebuild costs more than it saves, we'll tell you and quote the new panel instead.

We build and install control panels for facilities across Southwestern Ontario, including Kitchener, Waterloo, Cambridge, Stratford, New Hamburg and Wilmot Township. Call +1 (519) 469-9797 or request a quote and we'll respond within one business day.
